Yard House Opens Second San Diego Location Terry Bunch, September 24, 2015 With standing room only at its pre-opening party last Friday night, Yard House opened its doors at the Westfield Mission Valley the following day for lunch. Yard House, which has a location in downtown San Diego, is now welcoming guests daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining. With a nod to the San Diego craft beer scene, Yard House Mission Valley boasts 130 tap handles with 20 local brewers represented and 40 regional craft offerings. “There are so many great brewers in the Greater San Diego area,” said Gregory Howard, beverage manager for Yard House. “We are very fortunate to have so many craft beer options available in our own backyard, and guests seem very pleased with the beer menu we’ve put together.” Among the local brewers are AleSmith, Alpine, Ballast Point, Belching Beaver, Coronado, Green Flash, Groundswell, Hess, Iron Fist, Ironfire, Karl Strauss, Left Coast, Lost Abbey, Mission, Modern Times, Mother Earth, Pizza Port, Port Brewing, Refuge, Saint Archer, and Stone. In addition, Yard House’s Chalkboard Series features a selection of small, limited releases from mostly craft brewers that rotate monthly keeping the selection both innovative and fresh. These featured beers are listed on a digital chalkboard prominently displayed above the island bar. The menu of American favorites includes a selection of globally-inspired flavors, from salads and grilled burgers to seafood, steak and ribs. Guests can also enjoy an array of gluten-sensitive options as well as vegetarian dishes made with gardein™, a blend of garden vegetables and protein that have the look, taste and texture of chicken. Happy Hour, which takes place Monday-Friday 3-6pm and Sunday-Thursday10pm until closing, features select full-portion appetizers from $5 along with beer, wine and crafted cocktail offerings. The new Westfield Mission Valley location spans nearly 11,000 square feet with seating for 310 guests plus an additional three-dozen seats encircling the restaurant’s signature island bar. The spacious floor plan, which is lofty and open, has an industrial vibe with a mix of warm woods and stainless steel accents as well as an original collection of thought-provoking art by California artist Jerome Gastaldi. As with every Yard House location, music plays a pivotal role as a continuous playlist of classic rock, including ‘80s and ‘90s alternative, fills the space. Each Yard House has its own distinct playlist pulling from a library of about 5,000 songs with no two locations playing the same song at the same time. Yard House Mission Valley is located at Westfield Mission Valley in San Diego County off Interstate 8 and is open daily for lunch, dinner and late-night dining.
