Within the limits of Mercy lies an unabridged look at the metamorphosis happening between Agnes and The Queen. While the Queen (with Jurati stuck inside) is compulsively looking to assimilate and get a jump start on her weird hobby of collecting sentient beings for companionship, long walks on the beach, and slave labor, the rest of the crew has their own battles to win before they can regroup and go after the Boss who’s strength (and fashion sense) is increasing at an alarming rate. Only Seven fully understands the implications (both internally and externally) of what will happen if the Queen gets a 400-year jump on taking over the universe but without her modifications, she feels ineffective in her efforts to help stop her.

Picard and Guinan are finally making progress with their FBI situation. The Detective (played by Jay Karnes) finally lets a little light shine on why he is so obsessed with his line of work while Q finally makes an appearance to Guinan after the summoning and also, in quite Q flare, illuminates why he’s doing what he’s doing and she is just as stupified as the rest of us. Finally, Cris begins to let clear thinking prevail (he’s getting there) regarding the situation between himself and Dr. Rameriz but no one can discount her contributions to their present and soon, their future so it’s complicated but in the most helpful way possible. That will make sense once you watch it.
