SULFURIS To Release New Album Aug 2 2024 Terry Bunch, June 29, 2024 SulfuriS is a metal band from Vantaa that doesn’t believe in genre lines or shame. Our sound has been described as melodic death, groove metal or classic heavy metal. We sport a mix of unabashed screaming and clean vocals. The guitars are heavy, fast and shredding but also noticeably melodic; while the drums are dynamic and bombastic. We have something for both old- and new school metalheads. Our debut album CORPUS//ANIMUS, to be released this summer, examines the world through the lense of alchemy. The first half deals with the natural world. Parasite and Eye and Pollinators, for instance, are about the brutality of nature. Whilst Shatterpoint warns us not to repeat the mistakes of a century ago. When fascism rose through an abandonment of a shared sense of reality. The second half of the album is centered around the spirit and life after death. The Damask Drum is based on a Japanese play of the same name. In our telling the protagonist’s sense of unrequited love manifests itself as a ghost which proceeds to haunt those he sees to have wronged him. Malleus Maleficarum, also known as The Witch Hammer, is a medieval guide on how to detect and subdue witches. This all culminates in a two part song about the Christian Hell. Drawing inspiration from Dante Alighieri‘s Inferno. Tracklist: 1. Reunion (Skol and Hati) 2. Shatterpoint 3. Parasite and Eye 4. Pollinators 5. The Damask Drum 6. Malleus Maleficarum 7.
