“Sometimes it just takes a leap of faith”

In the mid-season opener, we see the crew preparing to meet Star Fleet and things get a bit wet, squishy, and yes, fishy (come on, it’s a kids’ show.) Along the way to the closest Star Fleet outpost, they perform multiple tasks of goodwill, and heroic deeds to prove that although they technically did steal the ship they’re not bad kids, just misunderstood and want to make amends.

Lovely but we know where this is going. Kinda.

Upon arriving at the outpost they explain their saga, get checked into Star Fleet’s database, and settle in while all of their information from the Protostar’s log data is confirmed. When downloading the files, a highly destructive virus is uploaded to the outpost causing the station to destroy itself and nearly killing the crew in the process in spectacular fashion. When they get back to the ship Gywn finally remembers what her father told her about the Protostar and it definitely brings the whole vibe down on the ship.

STAR TREK: PRODIGY: Asylum Ep#111 — Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Brett Gray as Dal, Dee Bradley Baker as Jankom Murf, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk and Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog in STAR TREK: PRODIGY streaming on Paramount+ P Photo: Nickelodeon/Paramount+ ©2022 VIACOM INTERNATIONAL. While Dal and company are trying to save Star Fleet, Vice Admiral Janeway is trying to save Captin Chakotay. Now from what or whom, she doesn’t know, but a few clues left behind (including the Protostar’s warp signature) on a desolate planet set the Vice Admiral and her contingent into overdrive, muddying the context of the leads which undoubtedly will lead to a situation that no one is prepared to fully meet. It’s a genuinely solid, entertaining ep that flows nicely from 110 to 112.
