Season 2 Of NBC’s Mr Mayor Is Maturing Into A Solidly Funny, Heartwarming Show With Bite Diana Marsh, March 13, 2022 Episode 201– Pictured: (l-r) Bobby Moynihan as Jayden, Mike Cabellon as Tommy, Ted Danson as Mayor Neil Bremer, Vella Lovell as Mikaela, Holly Hunter as Arpi — (Photo by: Colleen Hayes/NBC) Mr. Mayor is back and feels like it’s starting to hit its comedic stride. With more emphasis placed on the naturally funny (and sometimes not so funny) pitfalls, mistakes, and lessons learned from public service rather than forcing the humor through the character’s incompetence and instability (Jayden will always be incompetent and unstable and we’re completely ok with that) the show flows better and feels more relatable. When the storyline addresses social issues (even at its own expense) there are laughs but also insight and then more laughs. Kind of like a humor sandwich rather than a compliment one but this actually works and doesn’t come across as spurious or artificial. The new season also brings with it exciting guest stars that are peak Angelinos, technology-fueled dating miseries, and so much more.
