SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) , Tweeted just after midnight of July 12th: “SAG-AFTRA’s negotiating committee voted unanimously to recommend to the National Board a strike of the Producers-SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical/Streaming Contracts which expired July 12, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PT. SAG-AFTRA’s National Board will vote Thursday morning on whether to strike.”

A strike would have immediate impact on film premieres and next week’s San Diego Comic Con as well as halting filming on TV shows and movies in production. Variety Magazine reported that the London premiere of Oppenheimer was moved forward to ensure that stars can walk the red carpet prior to a potential walk out. A strike will prevent actors from promoting releases, which would include canceling scheduled appearances, including San Diego Comic Con.
