Review- Critical Role’s The Legend Of Vox Machina Is RPG-Turned-Adult Animation Gold Diana Marsh, January 22, 2022 Vox Machina includes a war bear named Trinket and that’s just one of the many reasons why you’ll love these miscreants. Photo courtesy of Lord Amazon. com BTW war bears are real, and here’s one you might want to check out, Wojtek. Critical Role Productions along with Amazon Prime Video has taken everything we love about Dungeons and Dragons and turned it into an animated adult action/fantasy work that is brimming with enough adventure, excitement, brooding characters, and reprisal-denied storylines to satisfy even the most hardcore D&D purist. It’s genuinely brilliant, takes great care to ride the line between the mystical and modern by continuously intertwining old-world language with new-world pop culture quips, and has painstakingly crafted its main characters with nuance and depth in both morality and personality that run the gamut from sexy gnome bard and various badass elf hybrids to vengeance-driven archetypes and a giant warrior of unmatched bravery and unmatched thirst for ale (hey no judging here.) Add in the beautiful animation and fluid music score and you have a multifaceted expression of animated that art, moving forward, will be a watermark for future adult fantasy entertainment.
