Review- Chucky The Series Has Done What It Set Out To Do, Draw Us In, Creep Us Out, And Leave Us Hanging Diana Marsh, November 30, 2021 Chucky has pulled off some gruesome deaths, but he made sure to spice things up for the series. Photo courtesy of SlashGear.com As the series progressed, it was nice to see remnants of the old Chucky storylines combined with the new. It wouldn’t have been the same without having Tiffany and Andy back but to also bring back both Nica and Kyle added more depth to how and why Tiffany and Andy would be interacting with Jake, Devon, Lexi, and Junior. Not to mention how both Nica and Kyle were graphically woven into the finale. Let’s just say “sometimes, dead is better.” A power couple for death, enslavement, and the pursuit of Swedish meatballs. The bond between Jake, Devon, Lexi, and Junior was already shaky, but add in two more horrifically personal murders A.K.A “accidents” and things were bound to fall apart. Chucky has always been a master manipulator and within the last season, he proved just how diabolical he could be. With the group weaken from disaster, Chucky could finally cull one innocent soul from the group as a means to put in place the final piece of his cruel plan, one which is supposed to include more Good Guy dolls (72 to be exact) that are all fully posable and fully possessed, a premature return to normalcy for Hackensack, and Tiffany not going fully insane. Guess which one of those doesn’t go off without a hitch. Photo courtesy of We Got This Covered. Overall the series has been pretty solid. Sure, a few of the murders were a bit off (Juniors’ mother’s face going through the car windshield comes to mind. We all know windshields don’t break like that no matter how hard the body hits, geesh) but the storyline, along with its subplots, was delivered with care and a genuineness that you don’t see too often in cheeky or campy horror movies/series. The cast handled their respective roles very well, the cinematography was crisp and engrossing and the build-up to the finale was steady and culminated into something that won’t leave your brain for quite some time. Here’s hoping for a season 2! Chucky Is Real is available to stream on both USA Network and SYFY.com.
