RAGE To Release New Album March 29 2024 Terry Bunch, February 15, 2024May 10, 2024 Special occasions deserve their own special music! German power metal band Rage have been around for an impressive forty years. Forty years in which band founder Peavy Wagner and his comrades-in-arms have released lots of albums that are considered to be immortal classics. Whether their latest release, the double album ‘Afterlifelines’, will also fall into that category will materialise in the near future, but one thing is certain already: This outstanding recording definitely has what it takes, presenting Rage’s broad artistic range, from hard, fast and thrashy to anthemnic, symphonic and lavish. “The first CD is entitled ‘Afterlife’ and comprises songs that we recorded as a trio, while the material on the second CD ‘Lifelines’ also includes classical orchestral arrangements,” explains singer and bassist Peavy, describing the 21 songs, including intro, interlude and outro. ‘Afterlifelines’ will be available on March 2024, from Steamhammer/SPV as a double CD, double LP, box set and digital download. Wagner and his two band mates Jean Bormann (guitar) and Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos (drums) have cut more than 94 minutes of new Rage music for ‘Afterlifelines’. The eleven tracks on CD1 include lots of modern influences in addition to the typical Rage style, while CD2 is fully orchestrated with the support of Duisburg’s keyboardist Marco Grasshoff, from little string quartet arrangements to sweeping orchestrations featuring strings, wind instruments and piano. Peavy: “Some of it may be reminiscent of albums like ‘XIII’ or ‘Lingua Mortis’, but it also shows Rage’s significant artistic development of recent years.” Peavy Wagner has also come up with some unusual themes. In his lyrics, he picks up the conceptual thread of the previous album ‘Resurrection Day’ to spin it further. “While ‘Resurrection Day’ comments on and summarises the history of mankind from its formerly nomadic existence to a settled lifestyle, ‘Afterlifelines’ describes a kind of dystopic scenario, where all systems known to us will collapse if we don’t fundamentally change,” explains Peavy. The song ‘Toxic Waves’, for example, is about the devastating amount of plastic drifting in our oceans, while ‘Dead Man’s Eyes’ is about the extinction of orangutans. Peavy: “A dramatic number of species has already been completely wiped out, and there’s no end in sight.” In line with this, the apocalyptic cover artwork courtesy of Karim König is based on the lyrics not only visually, but also refers to earlier Rage covers. ‘Afterlifelines’ was produced by Rage at their own Lucky Bob Studio in Leverkusen. At least three lead singles plus videos will be released, including the fast-paced ‘Under A Black Crown’, the opener of the second CD ‘Cold Desire’, which literally explodes after a restrained intro, and the ballad ‘Dying To Live’. Two weeks after the arrival of the album, Rage will embark on a major European tour from April 13, 2024, with shows and festival appearances in Canada, Japan and European countries such as Germany, Austria, Greece, Poland, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Spain and Scandinavia.
