As we dive into episode 9 the clocking is running out on the Borg’s campaign to jumpstart their assimilation of, well, the entire universe and Picard is to blame. Actually, he seems to be the bane of quite a few existences, including Dr. Soong, whose undying obsession with a legacy allows him to become a fulcrum for Queen Jarati’s New Galactic Order except there’s just one problem, and it’s the guy trying to work his mental health issues out while under heavy gunfire while also trying to save the world. Your brain does not need your permission to do maintenance work.
As everyone makes it back to the chateau, things go sideways when the Queen and her new friends arrive with a lot of firepower and one overly cocky Dr. The gang splits up in hopes someone makes it back to the ship, Raffi and Seven help stabilize the situation but it comes at an old yet familiar cost. Everyone is facing their own internal battles and while some are handling theirs better than others, realistic hope remains alive and well.
