ON ATLAS SHOULDERS To Release New Album Jan 17 2025

Terry Bunch, January 5, 2025January 5, 2025

The new album “Aion” by Frankfurt metal band ON ATLAS’ SHOULDERS will be released on January 17, 2025. The third song “Aion”, for which the band has brought in Jeff Black for support, is now available on streaming platforms. The band can also present a high-quality video of the almost eight-minute title track.

Heavy metal from Germany has meant consistent quality for decades. ON ATLAS’ SHOULDERS take up the spirit and are one of the young bands that rework traditional metal with new, fresh elements and thus create their own sound. The Frankfurt band combines catchy melodies, harmonious guitar riffs and a powerful bass sound to create an epic sound structure with a subtle modern metal touch. ON ATLAS’ SHOULDERS have released two albums and one EP since 2020. Now we are already looking forward to the third album “Aion”. The record, again produced by the band, is a concept album that deals with the Greek mythology surrounding Aion, the god of eternity.

The band described the songs of “Aion”: In line with the general band philosophy, which mainly deals with the concept of progress and legacy, the album “AION” is about the joy of discovery and the courage to venture into the unknown. Aion, as the god of eternity from Greek mythology, plays the role of the infinite and humanly intangible entity that is beyond any control and represents the ignorance that one encounters when embarking on discovery. Songs like “Northern Lights” and “Gears of Life” speak of positive experiences that one can have in the course of discovery, whereas “Wings of Icarus” and “Starfall” also speak of the dark side, namely loss and pain. The space concept on the album is intended to visualize the unknown and the infinite variety of possible discoveries. Therefore, we decided on a futuristic album concept.
