These days you need to be more than a one trick pony to establish and maintain a career in the entertainment business, and Matt Wells certainly has established himself as multitalented looking to push the boundaries of every genre he dives into.
From a lengthy career in the punk/hard core band Bucket Truck, which toured with the likes of Slayer, Damage Plan, and Fishbone that transitioned into a career in music and film journalism for Much Music, Bravo, and MTV, interviewing the likes of The Police, Quentin Tarantino and John Lydon to Lou Reed, Ben Kingsley and Lady Gaga. From there Matt decided to give acting a go, which gave way to several successful TV series endeavors such as The Detectives and Designated Survivor with Keifer Sutherland and now two award winning indie films he co-wrote and starred in.

I got a chance to interview Matt about his latest film Crown And Anchor, a dark drama of a family in crisis dealing with addiction issues, abuse, and a lifestyle steeped in crime and how two cousins who get out and break the cycle try to deal with all the trauma. Don’t worry, it gets lighter from there. We also hit on his old punk band Bucket Truck (Crown And Anchor’s music soundtrack is almost exclusively old punk/rock/metal songs) his inspiration in preparing for a role, and his upcoming work in the near future. Enjoy!
