Terry Bunch, November 3, 2015

With his first live appearances in North America in more than a decade, legendary guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN recently mesmerized fans across the continent in support of his Billboard-charting, critically acclaimed 2014 solo album “Inferno.” Now, FRIEDMAN is excited to announce that he’ll return Stateside once again in early 2016. Following a solo guitar clinic in Mexico City, the second American leg of the “Inferno” world tour will kick off in Phoenix on Feb. 8, with support on most dates provided by Holy Grail. Dates can be found in the above ad-mat or below.

Tickets will go on sale on this Friday (6) at 10 a.m. local time. VIP Packages, which include the opportunity for fans to watch FRIEDMAN perform during soundcheck before getting a special one-on-one meet-and-greet and photo opportunity, are on-sale now in limited quantities at store.prostheticrecords.com/martyvip! (Please note: concert admission is not included with VIP packages and must be purchased separately.)

Immediately following the tour, FRIEDMAN will appear on the inaugural 2016 Axes & Anchors Cruise (Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker), where he will perform two sets and host a guitar clinic. Reservations can be made now at www.axesandanchors.com.

Featuring what FRIEDMAN proclaims as his heaviest and most intense work to date, “Inferno” features 12 tracks “rich with complex melodies and nuanced arrangements” (Rolling Stone). Recorded mainly in Los Angeles with Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Children of Bodom) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth), “Inferno” included a unique blend of guests ranging from acoustic guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela to modern metal guitar heroes Alexi Laiho and David Davidson, to Canadian rock guru Danko Jones, as well as a songwriting collaboration with his former Cacophony bandmate Jason Becker. A deluxe digital reissue of  “Inferno” featuring two exclusive bonus tracks is now available via iTunes (https://itun.es/i6Ss9Cp).

Perhaps the most revered lead guitarist in thrash metal history, FRIEDMAN – whose pioneering work with Megadeth, Cacophony and as a solo artist has influenced legions of players around the globe — has supported “Inferno” live with a record-breaking jaunt across South America; extensive European dates with acts such as Gus G. (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne), Arch Enemy and Kreator; and multiple high-profile gigs in his current home country of Japan, including a set at the country’s largest heavy metal festival, Loud Park.
