Italian Psychological Terror THE CAGE Wraps Production, Announces Cast Terry Bunch, August 8, 2023 Italian Psychological Terror THE CAGE Wraps Production, Announces Cast Producer Arman Julian has wrapped production on his latest feature, his first in the horror genre, the Italian thriller The Cage (Animale Libero), from writer and director Henry Secchiaroli (Gli sbancati, Fate Vobis). The Cage, which revolves around a secretive family trapped by a mother’s iron will, stars an ensemble of veteran and upcoming Italian talent, including Nicola Grottoli, Daniele Borghi, Claudia Salvatore, Francesca Di Modugno, and Marco Florio. Secchiaroli directed and produced from his own script. Julian produced from his self-titled shingle alongside the Le Marche Film Commission. In the Italian countryside, far away from everything and everyone, from the conviviality of provincial towns, from any contact with others, lives the reclusive Fieri family. The mother, Rosa (Di Modugno), rules the family with a stern and perverse iron fist, including her passive husband Elvio (Florio) and their three grown but completely dependent children. The twins, Anna (Salvatore) and Bruno (Grottoli), are forced into an existence of deprivation, punishment, and docility. The youngest son, Sextus (Borghi), was left paralyzed after an accident in his youth, spending his life completely at his mother’s mercy. But today is Sextus’ birthday, the one day he can wish for anything his heart desires and it will not be denied him. But Sextus’ one dream is a link to the outside world that Rosa decries as evil. Can Sextus finally take matters into his own hands and pull himself towards a horizon that seems unreachable? The Cage is in post-production, eyeing a premiere later this year.
