Hulu’s Animaniacs Reboot Premiere’s November 20th And Is All The Sarcasm, Wit, And Irreverent Humor We Had Hoped For Diana Marsh, November 16, 2020November 16, 2020 THEY’RE BACK!!! Now Pronoun Neutral, Gender Balanced, and Ethnically Diverse and it’s done so well, you don’t even notice. Nothing in your face here except the humor. Photo courtesy of ComingSoon.net From the glorious first episode brimming with jabs at Jurrasic Park, high strung studio executives, and fleeting social media fame, to the last with Russian spy networks, kidnapping toddlers, and nonsensical athlete interviews, the debut season has everything you could ask for without too much in the way of presidential/election politics, dated references, or Covid related news (it was written in 2018) which is a nice break from, well, politics and the pandemic. “And like a man in orthopedic footwear, I stand corrected.” -Brain I’m dying over here. Photo courtesy of Screenrant. com Pinky And The Brain are back as well with even bigger, more outlandish plots, deeper dives into human behavior, and more ridiculous failures at achieving their ultimate goal of global conquest. Nothing is left sacred as the duo try to dominate social media, manipulate genetics, and raid a daycare to kidnap a special toddler. Let’s hope they never change. So far other than the Warner Brothers (and the Warner Sister,) Ralph, Steven Spielberg, and Pinky And The Brain, I haven’t seen any of the other reoccurring characters like Slappy Squirrel or the Goodfeathers, but it looks like Hello Nurse has been retired which I mean it makes sense. We were also only given a few episodes to review so when the full 13 become available there’s a good chance we might see some familiar faces. All in all, this is a fun and lively reboot that looks and sounds fresh and amazingly features the original cast voices. From the first episode, it’s obvious that a lot of care and consideration has been put into modernizing the storylines without making them feel awkward or forced and without losing any of the eccentric humor that has made them beloved around the world. This is how you do a reboot.
