HÄXKAPELL To Release New Album Jan 17 2025

Terry Bunch, December 22, 2024

“Metamorfos” (‘Metamorphosis’) is the second single from “Om jordens blod och urgravens grepp”, the upcoming album of Häxkapell, due for release on January 17, 2025.

Häxkapell commented:

“A metamorphosis, a transformation. To die. The grandeur of the liminal.

Coldness. Life turns towards the icy chill of death. Flesh and blood become stone and soil. The frantic pace and shifting time signatures accentuate the wild and rabid struggle within death’s jaws. The sword of the endtimes burrows deeper into the chest, and blood flows across the altar. Death is here; the acceptance of the irreversible sets in.

Cosmos opens its gates, and in stepping into the void, one catches a glimpse of eternity’s truth. The epic midsection, with its proud proclamation into the void, rolling waves of harmonic insight, and euphoric guitar solo, symbolises the realisation of one’s immortality; by embracing death’s darkness, the hidden words are freed once more.

But the price must be paid. The time has come. Life is over. I am a slave to death.

Into the shadows. Down into the darkness.

Die.”

From the remote reaches of Haparanda, Sweden, Häxkapell presents a black metal masterpiece that resonates with the eternal rhythms of nature and the cyclical dance of life and death.

“Om jordens blod och urgravens grepp” (‘Of earth’s blood and the grave’s grasp’) is a powerful blend of black metal, folk, and atmospheric darkness, interwoven with classical and progressive influences. Traditional instruments such as the violin, viola, willow flute, and hand drum infuse the music with ancient, primal energy. The lyrics, crafted through subconscious writing, serve as a conduit to the mystical and otherworldly.

The album was engineered, produced, and mixed by Oraklet. Drums were recorded at Nordvis Ljudstudio, with the remaining tracks laid down at Studio HMH. Mastering was handled by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio. Cover artwork: Maéna Paillet.

Founded in 2015 in the northernmost part of Scandinavia, Häxkapell is the creation of Oraklet, who embarked on an inward journey to explore the philosophical, spiritual, and mystical aspects of existence. Following the 2016 demo “Om sanningen,” Häxkapell released their debut album, “Eldhymner”, in 2021.

On “Om jordens blod och urgravens grepp”, Häxkapell’s music evolves much like the earth itself: slowly, imperceptibly, yet ever-changing. It reflects the cycle of birth and bereavement, with death and life beginning anew as earthen folk melodies murmur ancient slumbers into dawn. Oraklet channels these profound truths into lyrics and music.

Häxkapell commented:

“Om jordens blod och urgravens grepp” delves into the liminal aspects of existence, presenting death as the ultimate gift, the liberator from the burden of life . The narrative depicts the grave’s cold, hard grip as a place of eternal slumber, where we become part of the soil’s blackness and are reborn in the cycle of existence.

Häxkapell embodies a quest for knowledge, power, wisdom, and strength. It is a tribute to Satan, darkness, and death, yet equally a pursuit of balance, chaos, and the eternal light that shines behind the shadows of the Archetypes.”
