Sudden Death Brewing, located in Lübeck, Germany has three passions: hockey, loud rock n roll and beer. Sudden Death Brewing is named after the term in hockey where the “next goal wins”, sudden death.
Following their passion for loud rock n roll, Sudden Death Brewing has released Amplifier Doublestack IPA. This double IPA is triple hopped with Mosaic, Amarillo and Chinook hops, which will give it flavors of mango, pineapple. Doublestack is a followup to their single IPA version, Amplifier.
Sudden Death hosts Metal Wednesdays each week which fills the taproom with like-minded music and beer fans.
The co-founders of Sudden Death Brewing offered a backstory on how the brewery was formed: (translated from German… you humans have too many languages haha)
“We are Olli and Ricky, the founders and heartbeat of Sudden Death Brewing. We grew up on the Baltic Sea, in Timmendorfer Strand, where ice hockey has a long tradition and has accompanied both of us since childhood – Olli was even an active player once and in Winter, he is still drawn to the ice. Hockey is also big in the USA – so this one passion has often led us to the stadium of our favorite NHL team, the Boston Bruins, over the last few years. Live there in the stadium – that’s unbeatable for us.
… or almost unbeatable, because on these trips we (re)discovered another passion: beer.
So one passion has led us to the other and we combine both in our brewery built in 2022.
We have been brewing beers here since 2022, not boring, but always exciting, unusual, passionate, unexpected but always drinkable – rock’n’roll by the glass (or in a can), in other words.
And pizzas are also served here with our beers – perfectly matched to the beers. Because pizza always works. And because pizza can also be different. And because our great pizzaiolos are just as on the road as the brewers (#perfektesTeam) – you’ll see. And taste, above all taste. Because quality and creativity are our top priorities, always.
Here we also celebrate festivals, parties, concerts, events – now a bit legendary and always turned through the sudden death machine until they suit us – anything but ordinary, just. And here we welcome you as guests and can chat, drink and celebrate with you – and that’s what we love the most!”
On April 19th and 20th, 2024, Sudden Death Brewing will be celebrating their 2nd anniversary. There will be a brewery DJ battle on Friday and on Saturday the wonderful Carsten from @brauhaus_nolte will send you the finest tunes. On top of everything there is of course their beers, one or two collabs, fantastic pizzas and burgers from their brand-new food truck, gin from their shipyard neighbor, tattoos from their legendary favorite tattoo artist Vesko.
