GENCO Olive Oil – From The Movie “The Godfather” – To Sponsor MobMovieCon

Terry Bunch, January 20, 2020

GENCO Olive Oil – From The Movie “The Godfather” – To Sponsor MobMovieCon

The infamous GENCO Olive Oil — last seen in the legendary film “The Godfather” — has announced today that it will be the premier sponsor of MobMovieCon, the fan convention serving as the follow-up to the wildly successful SopranosCon. MobMovieCon (“MMC”) will take place on April 18 and 19, 2020, at the Harrah’s Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.

“I am absolutely thrilled to announce that GENCO Olive Oil will be a part of this historic event,” said Danny Provenzano, the owner of the GENCO Olive Oil brand. “GENCO will deliver a premier activation that includes food tastings, sampling, and much, much more, thus contributing to the fully experiential nature of the convention experience.”

“I can’t think of a more alignable partnership,” agreed Michael Mota, one of the three co-founders of SopranosCon and MobMovieCon, and the CEO of Providence’s Skyline at Waterplace. “This is a notorious brand, and we can think of no better place to make an ostentatious entrance than at a notorious fan convention such as this.”

If the name “Provenzano” rings a bell, it should: “Danny Pro’s” great-uncle is none other than Tony Provenzano, whose life was dramatized in the blockbuster Martin Scorcese film, The Irishman (whose cast members, incidentally, will be prominently featured at MobMovieCon). Provenzano has settled into his role as the CEO of GENCO, and an accomplished actor and producer.

Considered one of the premier fan events of the 21st century, SopranosCon was and remains a global phenomenon. What started out as a dream that co-founder Joe Fama shared with his longtime wife became a part of the pop culture zeitgeist with features in Vogue, The Washington Post, The Ringer, and over 100 other television shows, radio shows, and news outlets. Mota, Fama, and co-creator Daniel Trader will all be featured in the upcoming documentary, Don’t Stop, which will chronicle the strange, sometimes arduous — but thoroughly exhilarating— journey to SopranosCon. To that end, too, MobMovieCon will continue the “for the fans, by the fans” tradition set forth by SopranosCon, and will be a fully experiential fan convention that will kick off with a black-tie awards gala and conclude with an appearance by one of the biggest superstars in the film industry today.
