Comedian Jason Salmon’s Stand Up ‘Force Of Nurture’ Will Make You Laugh, Cry, And Rethink How You See Wood Flooring Diana Marsh, November 5, 2018November 5, 2018 His power definitely comes from deep within his odd fashion sense. And the ‘stash. Photo courtesy of Jason Salmon IMDB Hitting #1 on iTunes for the last week of October 2018, Force Of Nurture is a fantastic album that covers a wide range of topics including room mates, man-scaping, his Texas roots, that shirt, bacon, vegetarianism, relationships, and more, all with plenty of sarcasm, wit, and of course, self depreciation. You may not laugh out loud at every joke, but you will certainly find yourself thinking “Wow, I’ve never thought about it that way before” and then you will never not think of said situation the same way again. And that’s a good thing. Not only is the material solid, but it’s relatable. Starting off with his genealogy, Jason quickly dismantles all the ridiculousness that surrounds ethnic superiority, and the pain of allowing history to repeat itself when it gets white washed. He then takes you through growing up in Texas, moving to New York and dealing with New York room mates (and dealing with New Yorkers in general,) the fun of offending people with personal grooming and porn jokes (here’s where the wood flooring comes in), the lies of romantic comedies, and much more. Politics are mentioned here and there but nothing insulting and you’ll even get a laugh out of the jabs. Recorded in New York City and released via 800 Pound Gorilla Records, Force Of Nurture is 22 tracks of comedy gold that certainly deserves a go.
