Award Winning Murder/Mystery Flick Clyde Cooper Is A Surprisingly Fresh Take On P.I Movies Diana Marsh, November 26, 2018 Young and the Restless star Jordi Vilasuso plays Clyde Cooper, you’re run-of-the-mill private eye who’s got a case to solve, a bottle of whiskey to drink, and some really bad pick up lines. Seriously, I’ve had better lines tossed at me while I was at the gas station so don’t write these down. The rest of the movie? Damn solid. Clyde Cooper is a great combination of old school gum shoe meets new school tech. You’ve got a solid premiss; lovesick millionaire falls for a hooker who vanishes and with no where left to turn, he hires a low key PI to find her and hopefully bring her back in one piece. But it’s who she is and why she’s there is what really churns the story. On a night out, local business man Vincent Donovan meets a beautiful mystery woman while having drinks with a friend, and after a few frisky nights, his new lady vanishes, leaving Vincent heart-broken, so much so he hires a local private investigator and guy who has a permanent 5 o’clock shadow, Clyde Cooper, to track down Vincent’s soul mate and find out what happened. Pretty standard plot but when Clyde starts poking around the affluent neighborhood this young lady and her friends seem to frequent, it becomes clear Clyde isn’t just dealing with your average sex ring with hookers and pimps, but something far more high-tech and very, very expensive on an international level like he’s never experienced. All the while, still sticking with Jack Daniels and his favorite Glock. Keep it simple. And cheap, bitter, and with a possibility of a jam if the clip isn’t properly inserted. You know, the classics. Ladies, ladies you’re both beautiful. Written, produced, and directed by Peter Daskaloff (Counter Intelligence) Clyde Cooper genuinely bring it home here. Great shots, interesting plot and subplot, fresh and yet simple, the movie is just some cinema fun for those who appreciate murder mysteries with a twist.
