AMC’s The Terror: Infamy Season Two Is A Brilliantly Spun Nightmare Brought To Life

While season one centers around the true story of an arctic sailing expedition gone horribly wrong, with a dash of super natural horror to liven things up, season two successfully dives into another true story framed within the Japanese internment camps at the beginning of WWII. Not only are the detainees forced to deal with life as prisoners, they also must deal with an ancient spirit who is killing members of the camp, one unlucky soul at a time, for reasons only known to it. Humanity at its worst and best is brought to life in a well crafted story of struggle, hardship, love, and hope using well defined characters, fantastic visuals, and a story line that not only terrifies but immerses the audience into the real world of Japanese internment camps, another painful moment in our country’s history that is all too often overlooked and under discussed. George Takei’s experiences in the camp his family was locked away in shaped the story line, giving fans a brief but true to life overview of what actually happened, sans the evil spirit.

Eiji Inoue as Hideo, Alex Shimizu as Toshiro Furuya, George Takei as Nobuhiro Yamato, Miki Ishikawa as Amy Yoshida, Lee Shorten as Walt Yoshida, James Saito as Wilson Yoshida, Hira Ambrosino as Fumiko Yoshida, Naoko Mori as Asako Nakayama, Shingo Usama as Henry Nakayama- The Terror _ Season 2, Episode 1 – Photo Credit: Ed Araquel/AMC

Life in the internment camps was rough, but for the Nakayama family, it becomes an even darker time in their lives. Tragedy seems to follow their adult son Chester wherever he goes, and soon he finds himself in a battle of good verses evil with a bakemono, or a mythological shape shifting creature from Japanse folk lore that is able to posses people, who has very sinister plans for Chester and will do anything to make sure they come to fruition.

I highly recommend this show, not only because I’m a sucker for suspenseful, intelligent horror but the authenticity of the interment stories is extremely moving and enlightening without bludgeoning viewers with political propaganda.
