Album Review: GRAVE DIGGER – Symbol of Eternity

Terry Bunch, August 12, 2022

Album Review: GRAVE DIGGER – Symbol of Eternity

From the emotionally rousing intro to the last note played, this album delivers anthem metal like only Grave Digger can. Symbol of Eternity takes you on an epic journey through history to the Crusades (again, they like this period of time, haha) filled with their signature catchy hooks, headbang inducing riffs, thunderous bass, pounding drums and the unmistakable powerful vocals of Chris Boltendahl.  If that all sounds a little cliche, you must remember that Grave Digger are a true heavy metal band with no frills. Honest and sincere metal intended to delight Grave Digger fans, new and old.

There is a fresh feeling of vigor and happiness perceived from the music on Symbol of Eternity. You can tell the band really enjoyed playing these songs. While I enjoyed the last couple of Grave Digger albums, Symbol of Eternity feels stronger and more focused. It is almost like the band was reborn again and is on a mission to lay waste to all in their path.

That new energy makes Symbol of Eternity shine like the band decided they needed to dig deep across their long illustrious career and present the “essence” of Grave Digger. To that end, Grave Digger succeeded and has created one of my favorite albums out of their now 21 studio releases.  If, somehow, you are not familiar with Grave Digger, then take heed because Symbol of Eternity will open your eyes (and ears) to the wonderful world that is Grave Digger.

While point based reviews are hard to relate to unless you already know the taste of the reviewer, I realize it is an expected thing. Therefore, here you go:  Score: 9/10.
