Unleashing bloody love, the remake of the 1981 cult horror classic Evil Dead promises to bring an updated storyline to a new generation of nerds. And boy, are we glad for that…

If you are one of the few who holds Evil Dead close to your heart, you will be happy to know that director Fede Alvarez took the time to make this just right. This is not a shot-by-shot remake of the original but it plays very close to the indigenous storyline to provide us with an all too familiar feeling. That being said, the story is not groundbreaking by any means, it’s actually pretty basic. Five twenty-something years old friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
