Housecore Horror Film Festival Announces The Rot-scars

The first-ever Housecore™ Horror Film Festival erupts in Austin, Texas this week, bringing with it four days of heavy metal, horror films, and everything in between. And to pay homage to the 100+ horror films, documentaries, and music videos selected to screen at the event, creators Philip Anselmo and Corey Mitchell today announce the festival’s official film awards show – The Rot-scars.

Awards will be given for numerous categories, ranging from the expected: Best Feature Film, Best Actor/Actress and Best Director to the more macabre: Scariest Film, Worst Bad Guy and Most Repulsive Flick. Celebrity guest judges for the awards include Scott Ian (Anthrax), Bill Moseley (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects), tattoo artist Paul Booth, John Borowski (Albert Fish), lead singer Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod), horror grind thrashers Repulsion, bassist Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse), composer Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious), Anselmo, and more.

The 16 award categories will be presented on Sunday, October 27, during the closing night concert at Emo’s. 101X’s “No Control” metal show host Chuck Loesch and Judas Priestess frontwoman Militia Vox will emcee the ceremony with musical accompaniment from Goatcraft. Award winners will be appropriately humiliated if they desire to make an acceptance speech.

Austin’s own Honky (featuring members of Down and The Melvins) will kick off the festivities and Rot-scars winners will be announced between sets by Skrew, Eyehategod, and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Once the last award has been given out, legendary horror maestros Goblin will take the stage to usher in the festival’s grand finale – a live-score of Dario Argento’s horror classic Suspiria.
