Comic Book Review: This Damn Band #1

From writer Paul Cornell (Wolverine, Action Comics) and artist Tony Parker (Mass Effect: Foundation) comes a very original comic book story about Hard Rock and Black Magic. The story follows the comedic and wild antics of a world famous rock band in the mid 1970s, who are unknowingly worshiping the real Satan.

The beauty and originality of this project is in it’s adoration and influence from the great era of classic rock culture. Every member of the group will remind you of famous classic rock musicians. The first thing that came to mind was Spinal Tap and all the occult and mysticism surrounding Jimmy Page during the same era.

Paul Cornell’s sense of humor and parody of his characters is what keeps you turning the pages, and Tony Parker’s detail really do submerge you in the world of the band. Hopefully by the end of the first story arc, the creators have turned this highly entertaining comic up to ELEVEN!
